Newsletter Number 10                                   Wednesday, 24th January 2007

Active Mark:  We have been awarded the Active Mark by DfES  in recognition of the opportunities that we offer children in terms of PE, sport and physical activities.

PTA:  There will be a PTA meeting tomorrow THURSDAY, 25TH JANUARY at 8 pm in school.  Please come along!

Wake and Shake:  You will be aware that we are starting our school day with Wake and Shake.  The children have been asked to go to their cloakrooms and hang up their coats and leave unpacking their bags until after Wake and Shake and make their way to the outside classroom.

As we are now well into our second term please may I remind all parents, and especially parents of reception children, that children should be able to walk into their cloakrooms from the playground on their own.  Also that it is very difficult for teachers to talk to parents while the children are coming into school in the mornings.  Please talk to teachers at the end of the day or make an appointment if you have any concerns.

Breakfast, Art, Craft and Kids Club:  runs every morning from 7.50 am – 8.50 am, £2 per morning you don’t need to book, just come along to the hall to have fun.

Cemetery Car Park:  Please can we encourage as many parents as possible to use the Cemetery Car Park.  The hedge at the bottom of Hill Lane has been cut to aid visibility at the junction with Brent Road. The more cars we can remove from Church Road the safer it will be for children walking and riding bicycles to school.  Please remember that the last person out of the Cemetery Car Park morning and evening should close the gate.

Techniquest:  Just a reminder for children in Poppies and Ladybirds Class that they will need to wear their school uniform on Monday for their trip to Techniquest. They will need a coat and please put their packed lunch in a labelled plastic bag, with a carton drink, that can be thrown away.  School will take fruit and water for snack time.  There will not be enough time to visit the shop so please don’t send any money.

Open Afternoon:  Monday, 12th February 3.15 pm – 4 pm  This is an opportunity for your children to show you around their classroom and their books.  Key Stage 1 are busy making their space ships and will be pleased to show them to you.  For Koalas Class this will be an opportunity for you to meet Ms Hare.

Wednesday PE Club:  There are still spaces available in this club, if you would like to join please send in  £20 and a slip giving permission.
