As we reach the end of a very busy term may I remind
you of the Easter activities. Our Church celebration starts at 2 pm in St. Marys Church on
Thursday, 29th March this will include a selection of poems that
were performed at the Highbridge Festival together
with the choral poetry and choir entries.
This will be followed by an Easter offering of hymns, a poem and
prayers. Children will come back to
school to collect bags and coats and if parents are there they will be able to
take them home. If your child normally
uses the bus or the Yew Trees Bus and you want to change the arrangements
please let us know. We would be grateful
if there are any parents to help bring the stage blocks back to school.
On Friday afternoon on 30th March the
children will be doing Easter fun activities, if you would ike to be part of
this you are very welcome to join us at any time during the afternoon. The activities
will start at 1.30 pm & will involve the children moving around the classes
to complete 3 separate activities. They
will then take part in an Easter Egg Hunt at 2.30 pm and finally an Easter Hat
Parade at 3.00 pm, hopefully in the playground, (or in the hall if wet). Children will then leave at the normal time.
Netball
Team: A team of Year 4s took part in a Netball Tournament
at
Self
Defence: Our grateful thanks go to Mr
Patrick Barber for running this session which was really informative and good fun, he has donated the receipts of £50 to the PTA
fund. If there is enough interest he is
willing to run it again in the summer term.
Please let me know if you are interested.
Chess
Club: We have a
group of enthusiastic children who have started playing chess at lunchtimes; is
there anyone who could help them with some training? It does not need to be a regular commitment
but the occasional lunchtime would be helpful.
Field: The fencing of the field is almost complete,
the footpath through the playground will be fenced and double gates are to be
installed. The fence against the field
will have a hedge planted against it which will enhance the look of it but this
will need to be planted in the autumn.
Also 3 native trees will be planted on the bend of the fence in the field;
these environmental features are to be paid for by County. The negotiations for this field space have
been long and frustrating but now we are excited at having this very welcomed
asset to our school and I know that the children and staff will make good use
of it. The next PTA meeting on Thursday,
April 26th at 8 pm in school, will be planning a form of celebration
and launching of the field, please come along if you have any ideas or are
willing to help in any way.
Comic
Relief: £130.50 was
made from the non uniform day and the cake stall organised and run by Hannah
and Natalie. This money was split
equally between Comic Relief and Promise to
Literacy
Week: All the
children made, wrote and illustrated books last week. It was good to be able to devote an extended
time to story writing. The children also
enjoyed listening to Mrs Duckworth who is an excellent
- 1 -
story
teller. We finished the week with our
Bedtime Story day, and this fun day gave us the opportunity to read many of our
favourite books and stories.
Monday
Sports Club/Thursday Club:
Miss Claridge will be away on holiday at the end of April so there will
be no Monday Sports Club or Thursday Club until May, we will let you know when
they will start again. We wish her a
very happy holiday.
Wednesday

to all years. We have 2 parents who have
been trained to run multi skills sports activities and they will work with Miss
Louise Evans who is our SASP PE coach.
The cost will be £20 for the term, if your child/children are interested
in joining this club please complete the slip below.
