We have welcomed Kieron and Luc Richards and their family to our school.  You will all be pleased to know that Tom Colls has a new baby sister, Charlotte.

Open Afternoon: Monday 13th November 3.15-4 pm  This is an opportunity for your child to show you their classroom, work books and the targets they are working on, if this time is not convenient please arrange another time with the class teachers.

Safety Zone:  Mrs Hector will be taking Years 2 & 3 to the Safety Zone in Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday 21st November.  It will be a morning visit and we will be back in school for lunch.  Girls will need to wear trousers or track suit bottoms with their normal school uniform.  The Safety Zone is a series of interactive presentations on keeping yourself safe aimed especially at this age group.  There is no cost for this trip.  Please complete the permission slip overleaf if your child is in Year 2 or 3.

Bags to school:  Thursday 7th December:  Please start sorting out and collecting old clothes, blankets, curtains, shoes etc, more details and bags will be sent home nearer the time and you will be asked to bring in the filled bags on Thursday 7th December at 3.15 pm; they are then collected by a company and they will pay us on the weight collected.  It is a good excuse to get rid of some things before Christmas.

PTA:  The next PTA meeting is on Wednesday 15th November at 8pm in school, we will be making the final arrangements for the Christmas Fayre so if you are able to help in any way please come along.

Consultation on the new Code of Practice for Admissions:  Mr Tim Pollock the senior admissions manager for the LEA addressed a meeting at Lympsham First School on the implications of the new code.  It seems at this point that nothing has been decided, but that the DfES are setting out directives that will impact on future admissions policies as set by Somerset.  At the meeting he took away the thoughts of parents and will be reporting these back to the DfES through the consultation route.  It was also made very clear to Tim how we want the linked schools system reinstated.  He assured us that the LEA were committed to continuing with the Cheddar Valley three tier system.  I will be following the consultation programmes very closely and will keep you informed at each stage.
