The children of East Brent First School held a mock “Wedding Day” as a part of their Key Stage 1 studies into “Festivals and Celebrations” on Thursday 16th November 2006. Under the watchful eye of Rev. Martin Lee and their teachers, a complete wedding was performed in St Mary’s church, East Brent, with Samantha Fens as the bride and Edward Parsons as the groom. Mathew Dalton and Olivia Dolcezza were father and mother of the bride respectively. The children made all the flowers, horseshoes and bouquets and put together the order of service. After “signing the register”, the wedding party retired to their classroom for a first-class reception while listening to the inevitable after dinner speeches by the groom, best man and father of the bride – all, of course, written by the children themselves.
